Bonnie came to visit Sevilla from March 29-April 2.  We went to all the main tourist places, but mostly did some walking around although it was on and off rainy.  We went out for some delicious tapas, met up with my friend Borja for tapas at his bar, and then on the Sunday the "Domingo de Ramos" we set out in hopes of seeing a procession for Semana Santa ("Easter Week").  Unfortunately it was raining most of the day so not many of the processions ended up going out, but we did end up seeing some that left at night when the rain stopped!  It was such a great experience to see something that is just SO different from things that happen in the US.  The costumes are like those of the KKK, but here they are very religious and the points on their hats are to bring them closer to God.  There were children in the Nazarene outfits too.  They carried the Virgin Mary (every procession has a different one, and sometimes a Jesus) and the band plays and they march through the streets of Sevilla.  This event is one of the most famous Easter celebrations in the world so I am really glad that we got a chance to see some of it!
